Hesburger’s Double Burger is a classic. First created in 1984, it stands as the oldest and most cherished best-seller in Hesburger’s history. The expectations for the launch of the plant based Veke Double Burger were sky-high, with several years invested in product development.
For Drama Queen, Hesburger has been one of the longest-running partnerships, spanning over fifteen years. This time, our task was to create a world-class launch campaign for the new vegetarian version of the legendary burger.
We needed advertising that could truly capture the essence of something this significant. Thus, the soul song “Nyt voin luottaa” (“Now I Can Trust”) was born. It’s a song that tells the story of a young man’s battle with his self-doubt, his breaking point, and ultimately, his realisation that when you dare, you gain the courage to explore new tastes.
We chose Pete Parkkonen, whose soulful voice was ideal, rivalling even Bruno Mars. The songwriting team included Parkkonen himself, Drama Queen’s Creative Lead and songwriter Lilli Loiri, Fried Music’s creative director Antti “RZY” Riihimäki, and rising talent Aleksanteri Hulkko.
Drama Queen kicked off the campaign with a two-week teaser period, featuring silent, mysterious footage of Pete in a black silk shirt, surrounded by filming equipment in a NYC studio. And what was that? A glimpse of the golden-brown, sesame-seed bun. Some teasers even featured the hottest advertising film director of the moment, Viivi Huuska.
And now? The campaign, with its song and the legendary Veke Double Burger, is out. You’re welcome. Now you can trust.
